over eastern canada pulling ploice tour -- moisture down off the great lakes. and then the clouds start to come in approaching that storm. most of the day we will see that. seasonnably warm. 77-81. a tropical storm right now. as we get into the middle of the week, probably stay to the north of the caribbean islands. not the hurricane center forecast, just long-term models for bermuda and canada and maybe maine toward the end of the week or next weekend. so it looks like it will miss the easter seaboard the way things look now. you never know. our own forecast more near term here, by this evening, we begin to see more clouds and rain to the west. overnight, the rain sneaks in, and during the day tomorrow, on-again/off-again rain showers. we might get a few sun breaks by sunset. it is 7:25 or so. then on monday, there will be a little secondary front off to the northwest. it probably won't make rain. but it may increase the clouds late in the day. so seven-day forecast, 79 today, 76 tomorrow. a lot of sun, and a lot of clouds in our rain chance. partly cloudy. tuesday, wednesday, and thur

40s. this is all due to high pressure coming down from southern canada all the way to the atlantic seaboard and that will be with us here at the time and tomorrow. and we'll have highs in the 70s both days and 50s in the morning. clouding up saturday late afternoon and evening. rain likely after saturday midnight drying out in time for the big game sunday night. eric thomas, how's our friday traffic? >> seeing growing volume. you can see the brake lights 270 southbound at 109. still cleaning up an early morning crash eastbound at dennis avenue. looks as though you'll have the right lane blocked. a car went into the pole and the pole came down and now we have the situation resolved there. in springfield starting to slow down in the springfield interchange. all of the lanes are open, just a little bit of volume here. in northeast d.c., anacostia avenue at benning road, you're going to hear about a manhole fire. try to avoid that area. that's not the kind of thing to get involved in. >>> a developing story out of northern california this morning. a residential neighborhood is engulfed

went to see doctors in their native canada, she news was shocking. janis had untreatable bone ncer in her pelvis, a tumor the size of a woman's hand. doctors said the only way to get the tumor was to cut off the lower part of her body and put her back together again. the risk was enormous. janis would lose one of her legs and no guarantee her remaining leg would be okay. >> their goal was for me to survive, to see my babies ow. >> reporter: surgery could not be done ile janis was pregnant and she had her baby delivered early by c-section. her son, leland, was bor healthy but janis had a tough road ahead. her family traveled to the mayo clinic in minnesota. and they practiced on cadavers. >> she w the first person we tried it on. >> reporter: doctors called the pelvic construction pogo stick rebuild performed in two separate operations. during the first procedure, the surgical team removed janis' left leg, half of her pelvis where the tumor was located, h tailbone an left spine. in the sond operation, they took the top portion of the leg removed, rotated it and secured it to her pel
